Knowing What to Look For To Tell if You’re Growing
Growth is usually not a Big Bang
Sometimes you may get trapped by thinking that your personal growth will be a big dramatic event, an explosion, one that you and everyone will notice, immediately.
Well thank goodness it’s usually not, or we’d all get frightened, and pause, or even run away.
No, personal growth is more like what we see in that of a flower, or in a bird hatching, small steps that you can only notice by paying attention, gradual ones, resulting in something, well, that’s wonderful.
Just know that with us humans, our growth is not always in steps that look like they’re making logical sense. But this can make your growth even more intriguing.
Signs that you’re growing may be a Big Surprise
Some of the indicators of progress that I look for in my patients may be startling, like the first one in my recent article on 7 Signs Therapy is Working:
“No” pops out of your mouth as a complete sentence!
Yes, it can be a shock when you find yourself taking charge and setting limits. But this is so central to your learning to steer a course in your life that makes sense for you.
And you can encourage growth in yourself and in others
So, take a peek and not only read this article for yourself, but also share it with others you care about. Doing this is a way you can keep motivating yourself to press forward, as well as supporting those you know, on this journey of self-discovery and wellness.
